1. What makes a mattress a hybrid
Every hybrid has two parts. The support core is a spring unit, usually individually wrapped pocket springs, which gives bounce, airflow and a stable base. Above it sit comfort layers of memory foam, latex or specialist foams, which decide how soft or firm the surface feels. A traditional spring mattress also has some padding; a hybrid simply has deeper, more deliberate comfort layers.
2. How the comfort layers change the feel
Memory foam over springs gives a contouring surface with a responsive base, as in SPINE SUPPORT XT. Latex over springs gives a buoyant surface that is easy to move on, as in NATURAL COMFORT PLUSH. 4. What to check before buying a hybrid
