CLOUDE SLEEP KNOWLEDGE

Latex vs memory foam mattress: which feel suits you?

Both materials cushion pressure, but they feel very different. Latex pushes back and springs up quickly; memory foam softens under body heat and moulds around you slowly.

SHORT ANSWER

Choose latex if you like a buoyant surface that is easy to move on — such as NATURAL COMFORT (Firm, 7-zone natural latex) (MRP from ₹26,500) or ORGANICO (Medium) (MRP from ₹33,800). Choose memory foam if you like a slower, closer hug that absorbs movement — such as SPINE SUPPORT DLX (Plush) (MRP from ₹25,400) or ORTHO MAX ADVANCE (Medium) (MRP from ₹17,400).

General differences between the materials. The finished feel always depends on the complete mattress, so try both.

1. How latex feels

Latex compresses under pressure and returns to shape almost immediately, so it feels buoyant. Many people describe lying “on” latex rather than “in” it. Several CLOUDE latex models use Euro-certified 7-zone latex, which has seven areas of different firmness along its length so shoulders, hips and legs are cushioned differently. NATURAL COMFORT places 7-zone natural latex over a firm XHD rebonded foam core for a firm, resilient feel.

2. How memory foam feels

Memory foam (also called Visco foam) softens with body heat and pressure, then slowly recovers when you move. That slow response creates a close, contouring feel and dampens movement. SPINE SUPPORT DLX layers thick Visco memory foam over an XHD rebonded base, while SPINE SUPPORT ADVANCE uses gel-infused memory foam over Power Cool HR foam.

3. When a blend makes sense

You do not always have to choose. Several CLOUDE mattresses combine both: ORGANICO pairs memory-foam quilting with a 7-zone latex layer, and NATURASENSE and NATURAL SERENE combine Visco or gel Visco memory foam with 7-zone latex. The memory foam softens the surface while the latex keeps it responsive.

4. Heat and India's climate

Temperature depends on the whole bed: cover fabric, comfort layers, protector, sheets and the room. Latex is generally more open than traditional memory foam, and gel-infused or cooling foams handle heat better than dense standard memory foam. If you sleep hot, look at the full construction and use a breathable protector and cotton sheets.

5. Which should you choose?

If you change position often or dislike feeling “stuck”, start with latex. If you like to feel held and your partner's movement wakes you, start with memory foam. If you cannot decide, try a blend, and compare all three in a showroom using our 15-minute showroom checklist. For the wider picture, see memory foam vs latex vs pocket spring.

Latex and memory foam change how a mattress feels; neither is a treatment for back pain or other conditions. If pain is persistent, speak to a qualified healthcare professional.

Frequently asked questions

Is latex or memory foam better?

Neither is better for everyone. Latex feels buoyant and makes it easy to change position, while memory foam feels close and contouring and absorbs movement well. Choose the feel you prefer after trying both.

Is latex firmer than memory foam?

Not necessarily. Latex and memory foam each come in different firmness levels, and the layers underneath change the finished feel. CLOUDE's NATURAL COMFORT is firm, while NATURASENSE combines memory foam and latex in a soft mattress.

Which is cooler, latex or memory foam?

Latex is generally more open and resilient than traditional memory foam, so it tends to hold less heat. Gel-infused and cooling foams, breathable covers, the protector, sheets and room conditions all affect temperature too.

What is 7-zone latex?

7-zone latex is a latex layer divided into seven areas along its length with different firmness, so the shoulders, hips and legs are cushioned differently. CLOUDE uses Euro-certified 7-zone latex in NATURAL COMFORT, NATURAL COMFORT PLUSH, NATURASENSE and NATURAL SERENE, and a 7-zone latex layer in ORGANICO.

Is memory foam good for couples?

Memory foam absorbs movement well, so one partner turning over is less noticeable to the other. Couples who prefer an easier-to-move-on surface may prefer latex, or a hybrid that adds pocket springs.

Can a mattress have both latex and memory foam?

Yes. CLOUDE's ORGANICO, NATURASENSE and NATURAL SERENE combine memory foam with 7-zone latex, balancing a soft, contouring surface with a more responsive layer beneath.

Does memory foam feel different in winter?

Memory foam responds to temperature, so it can feel firmer in a cold room and softer in a warm one. Latex feels more consistent across temperatures.

Which CLOUDE collections include latex?

Latex appears mainly in the Luxe Collection's Nature Sense Series (NATURAL COMFORT, NATURAL COMFORT PLUSH, NATURASENSE and ORGANICO) and in NATURAL SERENE, as well as ORTHO GREEN, ORTHOZ, GRANDIOZ and EZY COMFORT. See the latex mattress page for the full list.
